Case Study - How to solve (separation) anxiety with ground work
This unit shows how connection based ground work and leadership helps horses relieve stress and become less anxious when away from other horses (or in other stressful situations) - by building a bond with the trainer and increasing the level of self-control. I help a mare find relaxation while away from her friend and when being alone in the stable. She has jumped stalls and even hurt herself pretty badly when stalled because of anxiety when alone. The mare doesn`t know the ground work I use, so I start from scratch with her. After 3 sessions she becomes more relaxed and can be alone in the stable. The 4th session is a recap where I show the owner what to do to calm the mare down when she becomes anxious and how to help the mare be less dependent on the other horse.
